Beit Am Capital Campaign

Naming Opportunities

What is a “naming opportunity”?
If an individual, family, or group of people pledges or donates a specified amount to the Capital Campaign for the new building, they will be entitled to recognition in the form of a naming plaque. The plaques will be small, tasteful, and affixed to either a door or wall. At this time, there is no specific “approved” wording for the plaques; however, Beit Am has discretion to reject wording that is inappropriate or offensive. Examples of some acceptable “namings" are: in honor of, in memory of, donated by, and variations thereon. Also acceptable is the “Goldberg Classroom” or something similar, where the room is actually “named”.

Will prior donations to the New Building Fund count towards the naming levels?
Yes! All amounts you have donated or pledged towards the new building over the past several years will be accumulated to reach a naming level. (Please note that this does not include donations made towards the purchase of the land: donors for the land will be recognized separately.)

How do I reserve a naming opportunity?
In order to ensure privacy, members of the Capital Campaign Committee do not generally know how much anyone has contributed or pledged to the New Building Fund. If you believe you have donated and/or pledged a sufficient amount, please contact Beit Am to reserve your naming opportunity.

Will there be additional or lower levels of naming opportunities in the future?
Since the building design is not final, it is quite possible that additional naming opportunities will be added in the future. In addition, when we get closer to completion of the building, we will offer naming opportunities for lesser amounts, e.g., for bricks, benches, etc. We also hope to have a donor wall which lists the names of every donor above a certain minimum amount. The details of this will be determined at a later date.

What happens if the room or area that I choose to name is not in the final building plan?
Since we are working with a preliminary plan, it is possible that a named room is not in the final plan. If that happens, we will work with the donor(s) to find a comparable room or area to name.

If I name a room or area, will I be entitled to make decisions about how that room or area is designed?
No. While input from the community may be elicited during the design process, the final decisions will be made by the New Building Committee.
