In 1995, Ruth Goldberg, a charter member of the Corvallis Chapter of Hadassah, left a generous bequest to establish the Ruth Goldberg Memorial Fund. Three years later the fund was nearly doubled by a legacy from Selma Loney, also a charter member of Corvallis Hadassah. Selma, too, was an honored member of Hadassah, and we deeply appreciate this evidence of her commitment to the future of our Jewish Community. The fund is now known as the Ruth Goldberg-Selma Loney Memorial Fund.
The income from this fund is to be used for financial aid to help local young people attend Young Judaea sponsored camps and Israel programs. To be eligible, each child selected must be a member of Young Judaea, or at least one of the child's parents must be a member of Hadassah. The child's family must reside in Linn, Benton, Lincoln or Polk Counties. We are grateful to Ruth for making these awards possible, and consider the fund to be a fitting memorial because of her devotion to seeing that the young people of the Mid-valley receive the best Jewish education possible in spite of the small size of our Community.
