Refining Awareness Group - New cohort beginning in February

Location:
Beit Am
Body:

The Refining Awareness group has gone through several cohorts over the past couple of years, with both returning and new participants each time.  While each incarnation is unique, the goals for experience include: greater awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and actions; the cultivation of particular middot (attributes) which support growth and well-being; and a deepening connection with Life/God/Wholeness/Holiness.  The tools we employ are: meditation, chanting, contemplative text study, and personal reflection.

During this next cohort, we will focus in particular on mindfulness mediation and contemplative prayer.  Each week we will explore a particular aspect of practice, accompanied by a text from the traditional that explores that aspect or quality.  Participants will be expected to invest some time each week (not a huge amount, but daily or close to it) engaged on their own with mediation and contemplative prayer.  No experience is necessary, as ample instruction will be given.

The group is open to anyone sincerely interested in refining his or her heart and mind, as well as supporting other on this path with compassion.  In addition, participants should be able to make a good faith commitment to be present for all or almost all of the seven sessions, as well as spend some time (again, not a huge amount, but regularly) with spiritual practice in between meetings.   RSVP required.  Please contact Rabbi Benjamin if you are interested or with any questions.
